Though our name lends itself to pickup trucks, that’s not our only demographic here at RealTruck. Our sizable catalog of SUV accessories—expertly crafted for Toyota 4Runners, Jeep® Wranglers, and Ford Broncos—allows owners of all vehicles to benefit from our products—not just the Ford F-Series, RAM, and Silverado owners.
But what about the vehicle classes and powertrains we don’t characteristically market towards? To shake things up, this feature overviews one such vehicle—not just an SUV but a fully electric one. Read on for our overview of the Tesla Model Y—one of the nation's best-selling EV vehicles and, in 2023, the world’s best-selling vehicle with over 1.15 million units sold across the globe.
With such impressive sales statistics, the Model Y needs impressive specifications to match—and boy, does Tesla deliver. Take a look at the table below for an overview of basic performance specifications for Tesla’s entry-level SUV.
Model Y | Performance | Long Range AWD | Long Range RWD |
HP/TQ | 456 / 497 | 384 / 376 | 295 / 310 |
0–60 | 3.5 sec. | 4.8 sec. | 6.5 sec. |
Range | 279 mi. | 308 mi. | 320 mi. |
Seating | 5 | Up to 7 | 5 |
Cargo Capacity | 76 cu.ft. | 76 cu.ft. | 76 cu.ft. |
As you can see, the Model Y offers solid performance, ranging from a peppy 295-horsepower midsize SUV to a tire-scorching 456-horsepower monster. And with plenty of range and seating for up to seven, the Model Y may have just what it takes to convert die-hard Chevy Tahoe and Toyota Highlander fans to EV owners.
It's no secret that the Model Y looks good on paper, but how does this translate to real-life usage? This section covers some of our favorite Model Y features that may make you want to consider EV ownership.
Without a doubt, the biggest draw—yet also the most polarizing feature—of the Model Y (or any Tesla, for that matter) is its EV powertrain. Tesla prides itself on pushing the boundaries of conventional EV performance, and it does so well.
As evidenced by the chart above, the Model Y comes in three drivetrain configurations—Performance AWD, Long Range AWD, and Long Range RWD. While the base RWD configuration isn’t anything to write home about, it offers beyond-acceptable performance for its class with 295 horsepower and 310 lb. ft. of torque.
The Long Range AWD variant is a considerable step up with 384 horsepower and 376 lb. ft. of torque. However, Tesla reserves the real excitement for the top-dog Performance AWD. In Performance trimmings, the Model Y pumps out an impressive 456 horsepower and 497 lb. ft. of torque, propelling it to 60 MPH in 3.5 seconds—just 1/10th of a second slower than a 2024 Aston Martin DB12.
While not conventional economy car efficiency, the Model Y can go anywhere from 279 to 320 miles on a single charge, depending on the configuration. That’s enough for a week’s worth of 20-mile commutes or a trek from Santa Cruz, CA to Lake Tahoe.
Such a technologically advanced vehicle needs a comfortable, futuristic cockpit to match—and the Model Y doesn't disappoint. With 76 cu. ft. of cargo space, the Model Y offers plenty of room for luggage, groceries, and even the family dog. Passengers can enjoy a spacious cabin with seating for up to seven, but that’s not all.
Amenities-wise, the Model Y is top-notch. Featuring a massive 15-in. touchscreen infotainment display with integrated games, standard heated vegan leather seats, and a panoramic glass roof, every ride in the Model Y feels luxurious and futuristic.
While the Model Y doesn’t feature a massive outpouring of aftermarket support, we offer several products to boost functionality and interior protection. Check out some of our favorites.
Floor mats and liners are the ultimate addition to any ride. They’re a must-have accessory, whether you drive a sleek EV or a heavy-duty truck. These accessories help preserve resale value and keep your ride’s interior looking new for years to come by preventing stains, tears, and unnecessary wear.

Lastly, let's check out roof racks and carriers. Though we doubt you’ll need much more room than the Model Y’s trunk/frunk combo, these modifications help to significantly boost cargo capacity for oversized items like bikes, canoes, and more.
If your Model Y already sports a factory Tesla roof rack or aftermarket crossbar system, further enhance cargo capacity with a premium roof rack platform, like the Go Rhino® SRM600.
Featuring a lightweight aluminum construction and three different size options, the Go Rhino SRM600 is the ultimate addition to your Model Y’s roof rack. Installation is quick and easy with Go Rhino’s patented Rhino Clamps, requiring zero modifications. If that’s not convincing enough, Go Rhino also backs each SRM600 Roof Rack with a limited lifetime structural warranty.
