Ford F250 Specs & Standard Features

Over the years, the Ford F-Series has undergone 14 significant generational changes, with each bringing new technology to the table. For conciseness, we’re covering only “Super Duty” generations, first introduced in 1998.

Ford F250 Legacy

The Ford F-250 is a staple in the heavy-duty truck segment, alongside its half-ton and one-ton siblings—the F-150 and F-350. These three trucks form Ford’s best-selling vehicle line—the Ford F-Series.

These three pickups outsell all other vehicles in all other classes annually, and for good reason. Reliability, outstanding build quality, and Ford’s reputation for building the strongest, most durable, and most reliable pickup trucks are just some of the reasons behind the F-Series’ success.

Though the F-250 has technically existed for decades before the late nineties, the F-250 Super Duty that we all know and love today originated in 1998. This redesigned heavy-duty platform was the first of Ford’s heavy-duty trucks to drastically differ from its half-ton models, sporting a beefier chassis, redesigned body panels, and more. Since then, the recipe has been relatively similar, even down to the Power Stroke V8 diesel power plants.
