Keep your ball mount, hitch-mounted accessories/carriers, and trailer safe from theft with our wide selection of premium hitch pins and locks! We offer everything from conventional hitch pins and bridge clips to heavy-duty, key-lockable units, ensuring the right tool for every application.

Types of Hitch Pins

At RealTruck, we offer various styles of hitch pins, including:

  • Standard Hitch Pins: Standard hitch pins, like Curt Hitch Pins, feature a two-piece design, including a steel pin with an angled handle and hole drilled at the shank end to accept a locking clip, or ‘bridge clip.’ These pins are available in various sizes and finishes, including black, stainless steel, zinc-plated, and chrome-plated.

  • Swivel Hitch Pins: Swivel hitch pins, like Curt Hitch Pins, feature a convenient one-piece design; no more lost bridge clips! These hitch pins feature a similar form factor to standard pins; however, the shanked end features a swivel lock that rotates to prevent the pin from falling out of the hitch receiver.

  • Lockable Hitch Pins: Lockable hitch pins, like Curt Trailer Hitch Locks & Coupler Locks, work similarly to a padlock, featuring a notched shank that engages with a keyed lock cylinder. Once installed and locked, these pins are excellent theft preventatives!

  • Anti-Rattle Hitch Pins: Anti-rattle hitch pins, like the Trimax Anti-Rattle Locking Hitch Pin, feature a threaded shank that tightens to a snug fitment, preventing the irritating clunks and rattles caused by a loose, conventional hitch pin.

Types of Hitch Locks

For unmatched security, invest in one of our premium hitch locks! We offer various styles for various applications, including:

  • Receiver Hitch Locks: Receiver hitch locks, like hitch pins, keep your hitch-mounted accessories or ball mounts safely secured to your vehicle. They feature a pin with a notched shank which engages with a locking mechanism, similar to a padlock. Without the appropriate key, a receiver hitch lock isn’t coming off!

  • Coupler Hitch Locks: Couple hitch locks, like Curt Trailer Hitch Locks & Coupler Locks, are used to secure your trailer’s coupler in the close position to prevent a thief from hitching up to an unhooked trailer. These locks typically feature a pseudo hitch ball that inserts into the coupler and clamps/locks in place, completely blocking the coupler’s opening.

  • Latch Pin Locks: Latch pin locks replace the bridge clip that locks your trailer’s coupler latch pin closed. These locks can be used to lock the trailer coupler to your truck’s ball mount or to lock the latch pin closed to prevent a thief from hitching up to your trailer.

Hitch Pins & Locks FAQs

Q: How do I choose the right pin or lock?

A: When selecting a hitch pin or lock, picking out a product that best suits your needs is essential. These include the product’s compatibility with your trailer hitch, material construction, corrosion resistance, security, and versatility.

Q: Can you tow with a coupler lock?

A: Traditionally, no. Most coupler locks are meant merely as theft preventatives while your trailer is idle. They often block the coupler’s opening, making inserting a hitch ball impossible.

Q: How do I know what size hitch pin I need?

A: Most hitch classes follow the same hitch pin size chart, with ½-inch diameter pins fitting class I and II hitches, and ⅝-inch diameter pins fitting class III, IV, and V hitch receivers. If you aren't aware of your hitch’s class, simply measure the diameter of the hole in your hitch receiver!
