RT: What do you love about the outdoors?
NR: The outdoors is the place where I feel closest to God. Going to the woods and watching His beautiful creation come to life in the mornings is my favorite part of being outdoors.
RT: What vehicle do you drive?
NR: 2022 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison Edition
RT: How does your vehicle help you out in the real?
NR: I can go just about anywhere in my truck. It’s the perfect size for me, it’s lightweight and the suspension on it absorbs all the rough terrain that I take it through. As an avid outdoorsman, I take my truck places that are hard to get to, maneuver through and it gets dirty quite often. I couldn’t do what I do and go where I go if I drove a car.
RT: Can you talk a bit about being a woman in your outdoor space?
NR: Being a woman in the outdoorsman world can be an incredibly rewarding and difficult experience at the same time. It’s 2023 and there are still some misconceptions and outdated stigmas about women who hunt and fish. Through social media, people tell me negative things all the time, one being that I only hunt for attention, when in reality I’ve done it my whole life. There are people that think women shouldn’t be doing these activities and also that I need a man to take me hunting every time for me to be successful. I pay no mind to these people and I continue to enjoy my favorite hobbies and persevere through the negativity as I prove daily that I am capable of being a successful outdoorswoman.
RT: How important is representation?
NR: Representation is important, but how you are represented is everything. Women are often misrepresented or drastically unrepresented in positions of power, influence and within male dominated fields such as jobs, hobbies or sports. It’s important to create a world where female voices are heard, where our stories and opinions are valued and where our contributions are valued and respected. I will always advocate for women and children in the outdoors and I will always work to be a voice for the world to recognize the true strength and potential of women. We are capable. We are valuable. We are diligent. We are women.
