Nissan’s popular Frontier is being refreshed for 2025 and it's clear that Nissan paid attention to feedback from the company’s customers. In addition to some styling tweaks, Nissan invested in a slew of smart upgrades that will keep the midsize pickup competitive for years to come.

What Stays the Same

There is already a lot to like about the Frontier. It uses a body-on-frame platform with boxed frame rails and is powered by a 310-horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque 3.8L DOHC V-6 and backed by a 9-speed automatic transmission. Suspension consists of an independent front setup paired with a durable leaf-sprung solid rear axle. The Frontier is known for being dependable, and that should not change with the 2025 mode. Off-roaders will appreciate the top-of-the-line The PRO-X and PRO-4X trims, which add Bilstein shocks, a rear locker, full skid plates, tow hooks, Lava Red accents, and an upgraded interior.

For those who still want a feature-rich truck in either 2WD or 4WD, they can choose the SL trim. The Frontier SL includes leather-appointed front and rear seating, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, LED exterior lighting, a Fender® Premium Audio system with 10 speakers, and a more street-oriented wheel and tire package. The base model S and value model SV round out the lower trim levels.

Styling

The front fascia is more aggressive for ’25 and includes the three horizontal slots at the top of the grille to ensure a visual connection to the beloved Nissan Hardbody trucks of yore. All of the trims get new grilles and wheel designs. The Frontier’s PRO-4X treatment gets some striking new 17-inch wheels, fender flares, a tailgate appliqué, and adds the Afterburner Orange color option to the color palette.

Interior

Inside, non-base “S” grade Frontiers trade out the previous 9-inch screen for the company’s latest 12.3-inch model, integrated into a freshened center stack. Thanks to some vent reconfiguring, the bigger screen looks fully integrated into the Frontier’s dash, and not an afterthought as with some competitors.

The ’25 Nissan Frontier also adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (with a wireless charging pad on some models) and the Intelligent Around View Monitor and Enhanced Off-Road view cameras are now more useful, working up to 12 mph, rather than the 5 mph of the previous truck. Drivers across all trims will appreciate the addition of a steering wheel that now telescopes in addition to tilting, while a four-way power passenger seat becomes standard on the higher trims, along with two-way lumbar adjustment.

On SL grades, a wireless phone charger, Intelligent Around View Monitor and a four-way power passenger seat become standard.

Mechanical and Chassis

From a capability standpoint, the six-foot long bed, crew cab configuration has been expanded from just the SV trim to the SV, PRO-4X, and SL trims. Still offered is the factory bedliner and Nissan’s excellent Utili-track tie-down system, along with a bed-mounted 120-volt power outlet. Nissan has upped the maximum tow rating by about 500 pounds across the board, with the highest rating coming in at 7,160 pounds.

Safety

The 2025 Frontier is packed with several safety and driver assistance technologies standard, including Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Rear Parking Sensors, High Beam Assist and Intelligent Cruise Control.

Price

The 2025 Nissan Frontier has a starting price of $32,050 for the Frontier S King Cab 4x2 and tops out at $45,610 for the Frontier SL Crew Cab 4x4 (6-foot bed). The popular PRO-4X Crew Cab with the short bed starts at $41,770. Destination and handling add $1,510 to the bottom line.

Conclusion

The 2025 Nissan Frontier is full of upgrades requested by Frontier owners, making it a better truck overall. It remains one of the most underrated choices in the midsized truck market that has a reputation for durability and value. With the expansion of the six-foot long-bed offering it offers more truck capability for the customer and since it is a refresh and not a total redesign, all of the existing Frontier bed-mounted truck accessories are still compatible.
