About the Toyota Tacoma
You can’t talk Tacomas without first mentioning the Toyota Pickup–North America’s rebrand of the hyper-popular Hilux. In 1995, as Toyota neared the release of the next-generation Hilux around the world, the U.S. saw the discontinuation of the Pickup; instead, Toyota introduced an all-new midsize replacement: the Toyota Tacoma.
The all-new midsize was an instant success in the USDM market, sporting a slightly larger profile and a torquey 4.0L V6 powerplant that kept up with America’s increasing demand for larger, more-powerful pickups.
Even after nearly three decades, three generations (soon to be four), and several stand-out models like the TRD PRO and Pre-Runner, the Tacoma remains the United State’s best-selling midsize truck. The Model also features one of the best pickup resale values, earning the KBB Best Resale Value Award for its 13th consecutive year in 2022!
