Over the years, the Tundra has undergone 3 significant generational changes, with each bringing new technology and features to the table.

Toyota Tundra Legacy

Introduced in 1998, beginning production the following year, and hitting dealers for the 2000 model year, the Toyota Tundra took the USDM full-size market by storm. While not Toyota’s first foray into full-size pickups, consumers often overlook the T-100, which was more or less a stretched-out Tacoma. Unlike the T-100, the Tundra stormed onto the scene with a large form factor (on par with American manufacturers), a powerful 4.7L iForce V8, and best-in-class performance.

With nearly a quarter-century under its belt and three significant revisions, the Tundra has proven itself an exceptional full-size, earning several awards, including:

  • 2022 IIHS TSP+

  • Top honors at the 2021 Texas Auto Writers Association Texas Truck Rodeo

  • 2022 Best Resale Value in its class by Kelley Blue Book's KBB.com

  • 2022 Best Resale Value: Top 10

If these awards aren’t convincing enough, Toyota repurchased a 2007 Tundra with over 1,000,000 miles on the original powertrain in 2020; the pickup has since been retired and disassembled for educational purposes, but impressive nonetheless! Read more on the story from the team at MotorTrend.
