Similarities between the new Escalade IQ and the traditional Escalade end at the name. The Escalade IQ is a fully electric, large luxury SUV that is based on the same platform as the GMC Hummer EV. It has 750hp and 785 lb-ft of torque and can go 460 miles on a charge. Starting price is $129,900.
The Chevrolet booth showcased the entire lineup of truck offerings, such as the Chevy Silverado EV pickup truck, which to us is more like a modern interpretation of the Avalanche. To showcase the flexible nature of the Silverado EV, one was on display with the midgate down and a full-size couch in the bed.
The Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison was a big hit with showgoers. As the only midsize pickup truck to come from the factory with 35-inch tires and fantastic upgrades developed in conjunction with American Expedition Vehicles, it is a worthy competitor to the Ranger Raptor and Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro.
Hidden in the tailgate of the Colorado is this handy storage area that is perfect for things like recovery straps.
Chevy’s full-size trucks can be ordered with the optional Multi-Flex tailgate, which offers several configurations, including this one, which makes accessing the bed easier.
The Ford booth was constantly busy, thanks to the Bronco ride program that allowed potential customers to drive over different obstacles to get a feel for the Bronco’s capability.
One of the things that EV truck customers love about the F-150 Lightning is that it uses the standard F-150’s body and cab, meaning all existing F-150 accessories are compatible with the electric truck.
Ford has a new Bronco package that commemorates the legendary Stroppe Broncos of the ‘70s. The 2025 Ford Bronco Stroppe Special Edition has the same color scheme as the original and is loaded with great off-road content.
One of our favorite trucks on display was the new Ford Maverick Lobo, which takes the standard Maverick and turns it into a modern-day sport truck. With all-wheel drive, 250 horsepower, and the ability to bias power to the rear torque-vectoring differential, the Lobo brings back great on-road handling and performance to pickups.
The Ford F-150 Tremor might be the most well-rounded F-150 available. With Raptor inspired styling and upgraded off-road parts, such as shocks, tires, and a modular front bumper, the Tremor still uses leaf springs in the rear for a high payload and towing capacity. It also is available with the 5.0L Coyote V-8.
The star of the GMC booth was of course the technology tour de force that is the Hummer EV lineup. Not only are the vehicles boldly styled and luxurious, but they are extremely capable and feature some of the best off-road capability of any GM vehicle. And with 1,000 horsepower, they are extremely fast.
Honda is going directly after the Subaru crowd with the company’s recently unveiled Passport Trailsport. This SUV has undergone extensive off-road development and is the most capable Honda four-wheel vehicle ever made.
Hyundai had a series of vehicles on display featuring aftermarket enhancements to improve the look and off-road ability, like this Santa Cruz pickup. Note the mud-terrain tires on aftermarket wheels and beefy red tow hooks.
Ineos had a small presence, showcasing both the Grenadier SUV, as well as the new Quartermaster pickup truck.
Camp Jeep was again a popular destination for showgoers thanks to the large Camp Jeep display, which provided thrill rides for the duration of the show. There was even a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 in rotation, mixed in with more mundane Wrangler and Gladiators.
A real treat for showgoers was this meticulously restored Willys MB military Jeep. It was on hand not only as a nod back to Jeep’s history, but to support the launch of Jeep’s new military-inspired 1941 edition package.
Jeep’s 1941 special edition takes a Willys 4xe Wrangler and includes olive paint, tan cloth seats, 33-inch tires on full-face aluminum wheels, steel bumpers, a locking rear differential, and some special graphics and branding. Overall, it’s a nice homage to Jeep’s roots.
Nissan’s popular and rugged midsize Frontier was freshened for 2025 and features a new nose and cool new wheel designs. We love the Pro-4X version in the new Afterburner Orange color they had on display. Inside, the Frontier gets a functional new dash with a 12.3-inch touchscreen.
Also new from Nissan for the ’25 model year is the Nissan Armada, which benefits from a clean-sheet redesign and even adds the Pro-4X off-road package. The new Armada is an exciting product for Nissan and has a twin-turbo V-6 that is 425 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque loosely based on the legendary GT-R.
While the Ram TRX super truck and its 702 horsepower V-8 might be dead for 2025, the chassis lives on in the new Ram RHO. Power is now rated at 540 horsepower and 521 lb-ft of torque from and twin-turbo 3.0L straight six, with less weight on the nose, it should handle even better than the TRX.
Ram’s entry into the tailgate wars is the Multifunction tailgate, which can be dropped like a traditional tailgate, but is also split 60/40 in order to swing out like barn doors.
Another interesting thing to see in the Ram display was two Ram 1500 chassis from the Ram 1500 REV and Ram 1500 Ramcharger. Both are battery electric vehicles built on the STLA architecture, but one of the chassis showcased the range-extending gas engine option of the Ramcharger.
Telsa brought a Cybertruck to the Los Angeles Auto Show and displayed it with Tesla’s option bed tent accessory, as if the Cybertruck alone wasn’t enough to draw a crowd!
The LA Auto Show was the coming out party for the hotly anticipated all-new ’25 Toyota 4Runner. There were a couple variations on display, but our favorite was the TRD Pro flavor.
One of the options that Toyota offers on the Tacoma are these cool bed rail cap scene lights. We could see these being a great way to light up camp at night.
We were intrigued to finally see the Tacoma TRD Pro’s isodynamic seats in person. While they look incredibly cool and bring some interesting tech to the Tacoma, there is definitely a trade-off with rear seat legroom.
Toyota brought the cool ROX concept to the LA Auto Show, which is an exploration of what a current-generation Land Cruiser could be like as an open-air adventure vehicle.
The other concept gracing Toyota’s booth was the 4Runner TRD Surf, which is a two-door call back to the original 4Runners of the mid-‘80s. Toyota even made the hardtop removeable, just like the original first-gen.
A fan favorite of the show was this Chevy square-body K5 Blazer, built in conjunction with Real Truck. It is fully outfitted with Real Truck accessories and covered in bedliner material to keep it as rugged as possible.
This Gladiator build was done in partnership with Rugged Ridge and professional skier Glen Plake. It has a ton of great Rugged Ridge parts on it, turning an average Gladiator into a head-turner that can actually hit the trails.
The Rossmonster Baja LX Adventure truck was present to raise awareness for A Race Against Blindness and showgoers could enter to win it in a raffle.
The 700hp Chevrolet Silverado Fox Factory Edition is designed to take on the likes of the Ford Raptor R and Ram TRX, but it came packed with adventure gear for those who like faster adventures.
EV trucks were also represented in the overlanding display, with this Unplugged Performance Tesla Cybertruck that was fully outfitted for the trail, including bumpers, armor, and MOLLE panels.
The Frontrunner and Dometic-equipped Ford Ranger Raptor looked like a fun time. As amazing as the Ranger Raptor is in its own right, one setup for adventure is even better.
Looking like a full-size Hot Wheel, the Bilstein 1974 416/U1100 DoKa Unimog always attracts a crowd, especially children who like to size themselves up against the 47-inch tires.
Built like a luxury yacht for land, the six-wheeled Krug Bedrock XT2 has a price that is commensurate with its size. And the price? If you have to ask…
