Truck & Trailer Tie Down Straps

Tie Down Straps are a worthwhile addition to any pickup or trailer setup, allowing you to secure your cargo in your pickup’s bed or trailer’s deck to sturdy and dependable anchor points around the chassis. These straps offer exceptional strength and durability, typically manufactured from heavy-duty, woven polyester webbing and rugged steel hooks/eyelets/mechanisms adjoined at double-stitched seams.

These straps are offered in various lengths, configurations, and strength ratings, with some heavy-duty models, like the Supreme Suspensions Ratchet Strap, packing a breaking strength of 5,000+ pounds!

Tie Down Strap Styles

Tie Down Straps come in several styles and configurations, each catering to particular jobs. Two of the most common strap styles include the venerable ratchet strap and the quick and easy-to-use cam-buckle strap. While both offer similar constructions and adjustability, they feature select differences in operation and strength.

Ratchet Straps

Ratchet straps, like the Bull Ring Tie Down Straps, are commonly used on heavy-duty applications, as they’re typically more durable and higher-rated than cam buckle straps. Ratchet straps feature similar construction, including polyester webbing and steel end fittings; however, an integrated ratcheting mechanism allows you to cinch the strap tightly against whatever cargo you’re hauling, making for a snug and secure load.

Cam-Buckle Straps

Cam buckle straps, like the Core Camlock Tie Down Straps, are quick and easy to use, as they don’t feature a ratcheting mechanism to tighten the strap against your cargo. Instead, these straps feature a spring-loaded “cam-buckle” that, when depressed, allows you to cinch the strap manually. Once released, the teeth on the cam buckle bite into the strap, preventing loosening.

While effective for lightweight loads, cam-buckle straps typically max out around 500 pounds, making them unsafe for heavy, sizable cargo.
