Chrome Gas Cap Covers

Chrome gas cap covers are an inexpensive and easy-to-install upgrade to any vehicle, sprucing up your bland, painted fuel door with a peel-and-stick chrome cover! These covers are typically manufactured from durable ABS plastic or lightweight stamped aluminum with a thin layer of chromium over top, providing a lustrous finish. 

Installation is quick and easy; simply clean and prep the fuel door, peel the plastic backing from the pre-installed double-sided adhesive, line up the cover, and press firmly to initiate a solid, semi-permanent bond!  

These covers are ideal for hiding existing damage, protecting your gas door’s factory-painted finish, or simply improving aesthetics!

Full replacement fuel doors, while more expensive and time-consuming to install, ensure a premium appearance. These doors are typically constructed from heavy-duty alloys and feature a bolt-on installation.

  • Finish: Fuel doors come in several distinct finishes, though the most common are black-painted, polished, or chrome-plated. 

  • Material: Fuel doors also come in various materials, ranging from ABS plastic to heavy-duty billet aluminum. Let’s discuss some benefits of each:

    • ABS Plastic: This rigged plastic is durable and completely corrosion-resistant. It’s lightweight and durable; however, may not produce the same quality fit-and-finish as its aluminum or stainless steel counterparts.

    • Aluminum: This alloy is lightweight and sturdy, making it the perfect material for most automotive applications. While durable, aluminum may tarnish and fade, requiring routine polishing and maintenance. 

    • Stainless Steel: This alloy is a mixture of steel and chromium, producing a material that’s as strong as it is corrosion-resistant! Stainless steel fuel doors require little to no maintenance.

  • Installation: While installing gas cap covers is quick and easy, full replacement fuel doors are more labor intensive. Full replacement fuel doors typically offer a bolt-on installation, eliminating the need to drill additional holes or make any modifications to your vehicle’s fuel door. That being said, full replacement fuel doors are typically manufactured from premium alloys, unlike less-expensive gas cap covers.
