Over the 35+ year run of the Jeep Wrangler, the model has worn an extensive color palette. Tens of shades of blues, greens, reds, and even whites have graced the body panels of the world’s most recognizable adventure mobile–so many colors that it’s tough to keep track.
Throughout the years, the same colors may even change names or even vary in hue depending on the year; for this reason, paired with ease of cataloging, auto manufacturers opt to assign paint codes to each body color.
Knowing your Jeep’s color code is essential, especially if you’re an avid modder. You can use the color code to verify if pre-owned body panels are a direct match, order paint-matched bumpers and fender flares, or even order matching touch-up paints to perform your own repairs. But what does a color code look like, and where can you find your Wrangler's? Read on for the answers to all these questions and more.
So, what is a color code, and what does it look like?
As mentioned previously, color codes are alphanumeric codes designated for body colors. Jeep color codes typically feature three digits, including two letters followed by a single number (i.e. PS2).
Rather than relying on names, color codes are a simple way to catalog, mix, and store manufactured paint mixtures. Paint codes are simple to input, read, and reiterate to parts departments, body shops, and paint supply stores.
Your Jeep’s color code may be printed in different locations depending on the year. On older models, it’s not uncommon to find the code on the radiator support, firewall, or even under the driver’s seat. However, most newer generations place the VIN sticker in the driver’s door jamb with a small section entitled “PNT:” followed by the three-digit alphanumeric code.
Now that we understand the basics of color codes, it’s time to get into the meat of the guide. In this section, we’ll outline the colors and associated codes of all Jeep Wrangler years and generations.
