Floor Liner Showdown: Husky Liners Weatherbeater Vs. Westin Sure-Fit

Updated on Nov 19, 2025

Comparison of Husky WeatherBeater and Westin Sure-Fit floor mats in a vehicle interior.

In the realm of automotive accessories, namely interior protection, one product stands above the rest in style and functionality. Floor liners are a must-have addition to any vehicle, especially heavy-duty pickup trucks, like my personal 2008 Dodge Ram 2500.

Though nearing two decades in service and eight years in my possession, the truck is in immaculate condition, and I've always maintained it as such. Between daily driving duties and routine hauls, I aim to keep the truck's exterior and interior clean and orderly.

When initially shopping for floor liners, I'd settled on a set of Westin Wade Sure-Fits for the front and universal Weathertech mats for the rear. However, I'd never been fully satisfied with the aesthetics, fit, or functionality. For this reason, an upgrade was in order. To replace the dated Westins, I settled on a set of RealTruck's Husky Liners® Weatherbeater™ front and rear liners, and I couldn't be happier.

In this guide, I'm taking you through my first-hand experience with both products and the observable benefits of the new Husky Liners, including ease of installation, aesthetics, fit, and finish, among others. Stay tuned for my comprehensive comparison of the Husky Liners Weatherbeater and Westin Sure-Fit floor liners.

Head-to-Head

There's no better way to draft an expert comparison than via real-world experience—which I have as the owner of both products. In this next section, I'll directly compare both products in several categories, including first impressions, fit and finish, overall quality, installation difficulty, and cleaning.

First Impressions: Color, Finish, and Quality

Right off the bat, I noticed one massive difference between the two products—color. I've never been totally satisfied with the color temperature of the Westin liners. Both were ordered in the companies' 'gray' finish, but the Westins feature a far warmer tone that fails to complement a single piece of the factory Dodge interior plastics.

The seats are the only aspect that matches relatively well, and those wear aftermarket covers that aren't the closest match to the factory plastics either. By comparison, the Husky Liners liners feature a far cooler-toned and darker color that matches the factory Dodge interior leaps and bounds better. The darker color is also superior at hiding scuffs, scratches, and dirt—score 1 for the Husky Liners.

Aside from color, I'd like to emphasize fitment. While the Westin liners extend further onto the plastic door sills, is that a good thing? In my experience, no. Considering that the door sill is the primary foothold while entering the truck, which boasts a 3-in. leveling kit, having a layer of slick TPE over slippery plastic makes for a treacherous and unstable step up. The Westin liners also lack considerable coverage behind the pedal assembly.

By comparison, the Husky Liners floor liners stop just before the door sills, creating a nice cutoff between the two materials and retaining maximum grip while climbing into the cab. The Husky Liners mats also hug tighter to the contours of the Ram's floor and extend further toward the firewall, providing superior protection behind the pedals—score 2 for the Husky Liners.

While the rear fitment isn't really a fair comparison, as I went from universal floor mats to direct-fit floor liners, the difference in quality and fitment is unmatched. If you frequently haul tools and other passengers in the rear seat of your truck, a one-piece rear floor liner is a game changer and a necessity.

Regarding overall finish quality, I'll put the two liners on relatively even playing fields. Both feature clean cuts and quality finishes. However, if I have to give one liner the slight advantage, I'm choosing the Husky Liners Weatherbeater for its smooth finish that's far easier to clean and more aesthetically pleasing. However, that factor all boils down to preference.

Ease of Installation

Okay, I know—all floor liners are easy to install. However, one liner takes a few extra steps that I don't love.

Whereas the Husky Liners Weatherbeater is ready to install right out of the box, the Westin requires installers to prep the backside of the liner and door sill to apply self-adhesive hook and loop strips. These fasteners are intended to hold the liner in place—however, they required replacement several times throughout my ownership due to failed adhesive. The peeling velcro also left a nasty residue that required additional time to remove when installing the Husky Liners.

By comparison, Husky Liners Weatherbeaters are a breeze to install. They dropped directly into place after leaving the liners in the sun for 10–15 minutes to warm and settle. Their snug fit and Husky's patented StayPut Nibs™ keep the mats robustly in place—another point for the Husky Liners.

Traction and Security

Floor liners need a certain level of grip for safety and functionality. Regarding the material finish, traction is required to prevent your feet from slipping and sliding while driving or entering your vehicle. The lower portion of the liner must also possess exceptional traction to prevent the mat from slipping and sliding across the carpet floor, which can interfere with pedals and, ultimately, look sloppy and unappealing.

Comparing the backsides of the liners, you'll note Husky Liner's StayPut Nibs™, which grip the underlying carpet surprisingly well. Even without the cutout for the factory floor mat retainer, these liners grip far better than the previous smooth-backed Westins. The StayPut Nibs™ also function far better than the Westin's hook-and-loop strips, which failed multiple times throughout their installation on my truck.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Lastly, let's talk about cleaning and maintenance. While both liners feature a simple TPE construction, the Westin features a noticeable texture across the entire liner's surface. The Husky Liners, by comparison, are smooth to the touch.

During everyday use, the Westins appear dirtier and grimier due to their lighter color and texture, which locks onto dirt like a magnet. These liners also proved susceptible to stains, of which I collected several during my ownership. The rear Weathertech mats were just as if not more vulnerable to stains.

On the other hand, Husky Liners has undoubtedly figured out the recipe with their Weatherbeater floor liners. The smooth finish allows dirt and spills to slip effortlessly off their surface. The material also seems less prone to staining and showing dirt, allowing it to stay aesthetically cleaner for longer.

Results and Final Thoughts

If it wasn't painfully obvious, I'm a huge advocate for the Husky Liners Weatherbeaters. These liners demonstrate exceptional fitment, killer styling, and next-level protection. They fit the truck better, match its interior closer, and are drastically easier to wash and keep clean.

If you're the proud owner of a hard-working truck, Jeep®, or SUV, even an aging model like my Ram, treat it to a fresh pair of Husky Liners floor liners.
