When the average auto enthusiast pictures influential personalities in the automotive scene, they’ll likely gravitate toward names like Carol Shelby and Gale Banks. Rarely would an enthusiast reference an athlete like former NBA superstar Dwyane “Dwade” Wade.

However, throughout his illustrious career aboard the Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls, and Cleveland Cavs, Dwyane Wade didn’t hide his love for fine automobiles. The acclaimed point guard has continuously maintained an impressive garage, at one point topping out at over two million USD.

In this feature, we’re covering Dwyane Wade and his vehicle collection, including his early life, NBA career, standout rides, and relationship with your favorite retailer, RealTruck.

About Dwyane Wade

So, who is Dwyane Wade? This section overviews the life and career of the renowned NBA point guard, father, and philanthropist.

The Early Years

Dwyane Wade was born to JoLinda and Dwyane Wade Sr. in Chicago, Illinois, on January 17, 1982. Growing up in a broken home, Dwyane turned his attention to sports to avoid falling into the traps of troubled youth in South Side Chicago.

Though excelling in football and basketball, the latter was Dwade’s true passion. He idolized and based his game on the greats, like Michael Jordan. Wade attended Harold L. Richards High School in Oak Lawn, Illinois, where he began focusing primarily on basketball. During his senior year, he averaged 27 points and 11 rebounds per game. These performances drew the attention of recruiters at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

College Years

Wade faced some adversity while attending Marquette University. After being sidelined his freshman year due to failed academic eligibility requirements, he bumped his grades via extensive tutoring and hard work to rejoin the Marquette Golden Eagles for his sophomore year.

Dwade led the team in scoring his sophomore and junior years, dominating the court with an average of 17.8 ppg (sophomore) and 21.5 ppg (junior). After an impressive performance at the 02–03 NCAA tournament, Wade skipped his senior year to join the 2003 NBA draft.

NBA Career

At the 2003 NBA draft, Wade joined the league as the fifth draft pick. This kicked off an illustrious 16-year career, primarily with the Miami Heat. Though plagued with injuries during his early years, Dwade is renowned as one of the most prolific shooting guards the NBA has ever seen. During his career, Dwade led teams to three NBA championships. In addition to in-season appearances, Dwade is a 13-time NBA all-star, an eight-time member of the All-NBA team, and a three-time member of the All-Defensive team.

Dwade also holds the Miami Heat records for total points, games played, assists, steals, shots made, and shots taken. In 2019, Dwyane Wade announced his retirement after an illustrious 16 years with the NBA.

Dwyane Wade’s Car Collection

Though Dwyane Wade is most known as an elite shooting guard, he’s also an enthusiast with an undeniable love and appreciation for fine automobiles. In this section, we’re taking a peek into the 13-time All-Star’s garage at some of his most prized vehicles.

1988 Mercedes-Benz 560 SL Convertible

Black vintage convertible Mercedes-Benz with tan interior.

First on the list isn’t a fine Italian sports car or modern luxury SUV—instead, we’re looking at one of the oldest vehicles in Dwade’s fleet. A piece of automotive history lies within his garage—heavy, all-steel, and riddled with fine German engineering. The 1988 Mercedes-Benz 560 SL Convertible exudes style unmatched by newer production vehicles. Featuring a sleek two-door design, convertible hard top, and a rumbling 5.5L V8 engine under the hood, this vintage ride is one of the most unique in Dwade’s garage.

Cadillac Escalade EXT

Blue Cadillac Escalade EXT pickup truck parked outdoors on a driveway.

As a throwback to early 2000s luxury, Dwade keeps a Cadillac Escalade EXT in his fleet. This unique pickup truck—essentially a rebranding of the Chevy Avalanche—boasts full coil-sprung suspension, a unibody construction, and a beefy 6.0L Vortec V8 under the hood. Taking a trip inside, you’ll find leather captain chairs, a premium Bose audio system, and loads of luxury.

If you own a Cadillac Escalade EXT, check out our various products and accessories.

Hummer H2 SUT

On par with the Escalade is Dwade’s Hummer H2 SUT—another GM-built unibody pickup truck from the same era. This truck is built on the same platform as the GMT800 Suburban, featuring a coil-sprung rear suspension and a 6.0L Vortec V8 under the hood. While essentially a Suburban, the Hummer H2 SUT radiates unique military-inspired styling.

McLaren 570S

Onto our high-end offerings, the McLaren 570S is a premium, mid-engine sports car hedging into supercar territory. Sporting a 3.8L twin-turbocharged V8 engine mounted directly behind the passengers, the 570S demonstrates exceptional handling characteristics and overall performance. It’s poised, powerful, and finely crafted—the only question is how Dwade’s 6-foot 4-inch frame fits inside.

Mercedes-Maybach S 680

Luxury sedan driving on a rural road with a two-tone color scheme.

On the other side of the high-end spectrum is luxury, and there are few vehicles more luxurious than the Maybach S 680 by Mercedes. This extravagant sedan takes an already impressive vehicle, the Mercedes S-class, and makes it even better, adding such luxurious features as soft-close doors, a 30-speaker sound system, and a fire-breathing V12 power plant under the hood.

Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder

Yellow convertible sports car parked outdoors.

You can’t mention supercars without referencing the coveted Italian manufacturer—Lamborghini. Tucked into Dwade’s garage is one of the most recognizable Lamborghini models—the Gallardo Spyder. While not the newest or best-performing of Lambos, the Gallardo Spyder is no slouch. Featuring a mid-mounted 5.2L naturally aspirated V10, the Gallardo Spyder can reach 60 MPH in just 4.2 seconds.

Ferrari GTC4Lusso

Black Ferrari sports car with yellow brake calipers, parked against a plain wall.

With five children, Dwade needs some semblance of a family vehicle. However, his definition of a family cruiser may differ from yours or I’s. The only station wagon in his garage is a unique four-seater Ferrari—the GTC4Lusso. The GTC4Lusso is one of Ferrari’s most unique offerings. Known as a “Shooting Brake,” this vehicle is essentially an aerodynamic two-door station wagon, offering ample seating for four passengers while retaining its Ferrari genetics. Under the hood is a 6.3L naturally-aspirated V12 pumping out an impressive 680 horsepower.

Mercedes SLR McLaren

One of the most coveted sports cars of the late 2000s is the Mercedes SLR McLaren. This unique Anglo-German coupe is the lovechild between British supercar manufacturer McLaren and German luxury manufacturer Mercedes-Benz. Featuring timeless looks, unmatched performance, and a hyper-limited production run, the Mercedes SLR McLaren is undoubtedly one of the most intriguing vehicles in Dwade’s collection.

McLaren 720S Spider

Black sports convertible car parked outdoors with trees in the background.

As if one McLaren wasn’t enough, Dwade also boasts a second in his garage—a 720S Spider. Cradled in the center of the 720S’ chassis is a 4.0L V8 engine equipped with dual twin-scroll turbochargers. Producing 720 horsepower, the 720S spider climbs to 60 MPH in just 2.8 seconds.

Ferrari F12 Berlinetta

Red Ferrari sports car parked outside showroom.

Last but not least is Dwyane’s Ferrari F12 Berlinetta. The naturally aspirated V12-powered sports car offers blistering performance, producing 730 horsepower. Featuring a traditional front-mounted engine and rear-wheel-drive configuration, the F12 Berlinetta offers rowdy performance. However, it’s also one of Ferrari's most comfortable and spacious coupes, making it the ideal Italian sports car for the ex-NBA player.
