Electric running boards, such as the AMP Research Powerstep, fold down when you need them and retract when not in use. Made from aluminum, most electric running boards are available in a matte black powder-coat finish with optional stainless steel trim. Since they fold up when not in use, electric running boards come down much farther than a standard running board, making them the best choice if you need the maximum amount of drop. Some even have LEDs that light up the step to make it easier to see at night.
