Building Homes For Heroes 2019

For the last two years, Truck Hero has partnered with Building Homes for Heroes, a charitable organization that builds houses for military families. In addition to building homes, the organization also hosts team building exercises and activities for those who have benefited from their charitable works. To help out, employees from RealTruck and Truck Hero,’s parent company, volunteered at this event on June 14 to help make sure these well-deserving men and women had a day they’d never forget.

Fun and Games

This year, participants split into several teams and competed in a series of games, including a putting challenge, puzzle solving, and shooting hoops on an indoor basketball court. Our volunteers organized each challenge station and assisted the veterans and their families as they moved through each station. Of particular note is a veteran named Nathan Nelson who was able to successfully make a basket in spite of crippling paralysis, garnering cheers and applause from everyone present.

About Building Homes For Heroes

Building Homes for Heroes was founded in 2006 with the goal of providing support to men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces who suffered debilitating injuries while serving in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. The organization builds mortgage-free homes for these wounded veterans and their families. By freeing from financial burdens those who have sacrificed the most in the service of our country, Building Homes for Heroes hopes to enable veterans to lead more independent and productive civilian lives.
